"What does the year have in store for me?" If you've wondered that then you want to know about Annual Profections. I learned about them earlier this year and Wednesday morning I realized…oh, I think this divination technique is actually happening.
An Overview of Annual Profection
Annual profection is a divination concept for knowing when traits of your natal chart will be more active for any given year. Looking at a natal chart we see loads of information but it’s not clear when events or traits will present on our lives. The information in the natal chart is robust but lacks instructive timing. Annual Profection is a response to that natal ambiguity because it creates a schedule for knowing when a particular zodiacal house is especially active. In other words when you know your Profection House you know the major plot beats for the upcoming year.
For example, on my birthday in June 2021, I began my 9th House Profection Year. This means the upcoming year (June 2021 - June 2022) is shaped by 9th House topics. 9th House topics are long-distance travel, acquiring knowledge, spiritual exploration and other dope themes. The nature of this influences largely depends on transits through that house. In addition to knowing your Profection House you can also know your Profection Ruler (planetary ruler of the zodiacal sign that coincides with the Profection House). Between knowing the Profection House and Profection Ruler one can anticipate and perhaps harmonize with these prominent influences.
Back to Wednesday morning, as I was waking up Kelly-brain was like, “Hey Kelly, why don’t you look up your Profection year?” Kelly realizes it’s 9th House. “Cool. Oh wait. I just planned 2000 miles of travel and downloaded all my course information for ancient astrology.” When I committed to my travel plans and year-long course I wasn’t yet aware of my Profection House. So the profection reset, I realized it, and thought, “Whoa, there might be something to this divination technique. I’m doing every stereotypical 9th House topic imaginable.”
Essentially, the Profection House sets the tone for your next year starting at your birthday. When you know your Profection House you know what's going to drive influential events and decisions during the next year.
